STARRETT PRECISION

ABOUT STARRETT PRECISION

Founded in 1880 by Laroy S. Starrett, who is responsible for the invention of the combination square, the L.S. Starrett Company today manufactures a wide range of precision tools, gages, measuring instruments and saw blades for industrial, professional and consumer markets worldwide.

The company maintains world headquarters in Athol, Mass., the city of its founding. The Athol plant is where most Starrett precision tools are manufactured to this day. The company has eight manufacturing locations worldwide, five of them in the United States.

Starrett’s line of precision measuring tools includes calipers, dial indicators, rules, micrometers, granite surface plates, gage blocks, laser measurement tools, electronic gages and custom engineered products. The company offers metrology equipment, including optical measuring projectors, multi-sensor measuring systems and vision systems, an assortment of them being custom-engineered.

Also included within the Starrett precision group product line is precision-ground flat stock, drill rod and M1 lubricant. The Starrett name graces a wide range of manufacturing companies, large and small, by way of expertly crafted hand measuring tools among many other precision products each used to maintain and ensure their products remain of the highest quality.

Starrett maintains the accuracy of its precision measuring tools through the company’s grand master gage blocks, which are certified by the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

Besides precision tools, Starrett is a major global manufacturer and provider of saw blade products, including band saw blades for manufacturing. The company offers levels, tape measures, protractors and a variety of other useful tools used predominantly at workshops and construction worksites, available through Starrett’s jobsite and workshop group. Products available through Starrett’s power tool and hand saws group includes jig and reciprocating blades, hole saws, and hacksaw products.

When the product calls for assembly, measuring, cutting or forming, Starrett tools provide an essential tool to ensure quality. Throughout the metalworking industry, working with exotic materials and in a wide variety of traditional and newer industries, such as electronics, aerospace and energy, among others, or anywhere the manufacturing of durable goods is essential, Starrett continually sets the bar while being used in a significant range of manufacturing facilities globally.
